This guide will take you through our quality, standards, regulations, and safety measures. It will guide you on securing the quality of your baby's pacifiers, the safety requirements all our pacifiers meet, and how to identify an original BIBS pacifier. When you buy a BIBS pacifier, always remember to monitor the baby when using the pacifier and:

Pull test

To check the pacifier, pull the nipple in all directions and inspect it carefully before use and replace the pacifier at the first sign of damage or weakness.

Replacement

Replace the pacifiers every 4-6 weeks for both safety and hygienic reasons. If your child has teeth, please be extra aware of signs of damage or weakness in the material.

Cleaning

Part of good pacifier hygiene is frequent cleaning of the pacifiers. The younger the child, the more important it is to protect it from bacteria and to maintain good pacifier hygiene.

Signs that the pacifier needs to be replaced

Since natural rubber latex is a natural material, it can in some cases expand. Whenever you experience a change in the material the pacifier must be replaced. Natural rubber latex pacifiers must be replaced when you see the following signs:

• Changes in the surface
• Changes in size
• Change in shape
• Rupture in the material
• Becomes brittle or sticky

Natural rubber latex vs. silicone

Natural rubber latex is a natural material and is affected by sunlight, high temperatures, and moisture which accelerates the aging process of the latex material. Since latex is a natural material color variation may occur. Silicone is an industrially manufactured hypoallergenic, odorless, and taste-neutral material that is known for its purity. The smooth transparent nipple is not as soft as natural rubber latex, but it retains its shape and can withstand high temperatures.

Cleaning

Before the very first use, sterilize the pacifier by boiling it in plenty of water for 5 minutes. This only applies before first use. When cleaning the pacifier subsequently, follow these three simple steps:
• Put the pacifiers in a clean bowl. Pour them with plenty of boiling water.
• Let the pacifiers soak for approx. 5 minutes.
• Pick them up and let them dry on a clean towel.

Don’ts

• Do not leave latex pacifiers in direct sunlight. • Do not put the pacifiers in the dishwasher.• Do not use UV sterilizers for latex pacifiers.• Do not freeze the pacifiers.• Do not use disinfectant “sterilizing solution” for latex pacifiers.

Product Compliance to standards

All our pacifiers are designed and produced in Denmark. In addition, they are produced in accordance with the requirements for safety, health and environment of EU Standard EN 1400+A2. On the North American market our pacifiers undergo further tests in accordance with the requirements of 16 CFR 1511 and SOR/2016-184.

Best before

Pacifiers with latex nipples have a best-before date of 2,5 years, whereas silicone is 5 years. You can always find the manufacturing date by reading the batch numbers on the packaging.

Vent holes

All our pacifier shields are carefully designed with holes.This is both to ensure minimum contact with the sensitive and delicate skin around the baby's mouth, which means less chance of moisture build-up from saliva that can cause rashes and sore spots, but it also ensures that in the rare case where the child put the entire pacifier in their mouth, the baby can still get air. If you experience this, calmly take out the pacifier from the child's mouth.The shield complies with strict requirements for size and shape and cannot be swallowed.

Pacifiers are a great way to promote relaxation and help babies fall
asleep, but always ensure supervision during use.

How do you recognize BIBS pacifiers?

Logo on nipple

We are currently working on applying the BIBS logo to all our nipples. However, a nipple without the BIBS logo is not a sign that the pacifier is a copy. It is simply that we have not implemented the new design on all our pacifier nipples yet.
